I have been looking up this topic for a while and couldn’t find the right conversations to guide me. Then my higher self was like, oh you gonna have to talk about this one - but do i want to talk about it so publicly - all and all i decided not to be a chicken shit about it anymore, because I am sure there are a lot more people out there who feel the same way.
Ok so the beginning. Being on this path is hard. Lets not pretend. To be a spiritual worker, you have to give up a lot of shit. Activities, friends, food, even sleep sometimes. It’s a practice and a lifestyle. As you go on your journey it will eventually come out your pores like the sweat on that melanated skin.
The first time I ever “healed” someone.
From my experience though I find that it's getting harder and harder to grow into what I need to be and end up being a lot more alone than I realised. In my geographical location, ain't nobody about no tarot card readings, they about the bible. If you don’t have a bible, somebody will give you one - bet! It’s even harder when you are out and you want to talk about esoteric shit and nobody understands, or more so cares about what you think. Everybody down in their phones, or talking about all the other distractions. Like getting a man - or losing a man. Nobody wants to go in the water and pick stones or meditate randomly on the sand. Everyone is out of themselves.
If you’re like me, you probably got your “call” and you prefer to work alone- cuz this coven thing is not for me. But sometimes, that loneliness can cause depression and anxiety. The Spiritual work that we do cannot be done in a vacuum and it is harder alone. Especially now since covid and there are less and less meet ups and sister-hood connections. I don’t know how it is for my north American network, but in the Caribbean, you can’t come out and say certain things unless you want to be cut off and chastised for your beliefs. I know that in Cuba for example, it is not a question of, where is the spiritual worker, it is, which one are you going to.
It’s like, Afro Caribbean and Afro American or anything with African decent related structure is only cool in Black History Month and then we go back to our regularly scheduled programming. Well which one do you want? Pick a side brudda! You can’t celebrate only one piece of African history and tradition and cut the rest.
